Cole Hocker kicked it into high gear at the Olympics. He zoomed past the top two favorites from Great Britain and Norway to break the Olympic record. In 2023, Hocker moved to Blacksburg to train under Virginia Tech’s coach, Ben Thomas, in the scenic New River Valley. This decision led him to fulfill his dream of standing on the gold medal podium. It was a big comeback for him, especially since he finished sixth in his first Olympic run in Tokyo. More than being the pride of Virginia Tech, he is now the pride of the entire country.
