Radford University has partnered with a few local institutions to kick off the ITCCP Partnership. This partnership aims to increase the local workforce of professionals with cybersecurity and IT certifications. It involves Radford’s Division of Economic Development and Corporate Education and the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative in Southwest Virginia. They’re joining forces with Virginia Tech and New River Community College to tackle the talent shortage in the area. This collaboration plans to reach its goal by creating a steady stream of students and graduates in IT and cybersecurity. Doing so will increase the local workforce in these fields and contribute to the local tech industry.
They are setting up a regional testing center for Economic Development at The HUB at Radford. This place is about making it easier for talented individuals to take the certification tests. This program isn’t exclusive to Radford students and those at partner schools. The plan is to open it to people already working in the New River Valley who want to level up their skills. By making testing more accessible, it should further advance the program’s goals.
According to an article from July 2024, Radford University announced that it scored a $202,872 grant from the GO Virginia State Board! This cash will help kick off its Developing IT & Cybersecurity Certification Pipeline (ITCCP) project.
